My students have really enjoyed participating in the Global Read Aloud this year with the book Fish In A Tree. The main character Ally has grabbed our attention. Her struggles to “fit in” have everyone hoping she figures things out.
One aspect of the book we have been thinking a lot about has been her “Mind Movies.” This week we took time to reread the book looking for each time she does this. We pulled evidence out and took careful note of when and why we think this happens. Student also worked on visualizing by creating “Mind Movies” that match the text from the book.
We are still investigating but we believe the movies appear to Ally every time she gets stressed about something.
